Swyft App Micro-Interactions

Swyft is a food delivery application designed to provide users with a fast, smooth, and delightful ordering experience. The project focused on creating an intuitive interface and enhancing user engagement through micro-interactions and high-fidelity interactive prototypes.

Year :

2019

Industry :

Food Delivery

Client :

Swyft App

Project Duration :

8 Months

My Role

  • Micro-Interaction Designer: crafted meaningful animations that provided feedback, guided navigation, and added delight without overwhelming the user.

  • Interactive Prototyping (ProtoPie): built advanced prototypes to simulate real user flows, test transitions, and validate usability before development.

  • UI Design: contributed to the overall look and feel by designing clean and modern screens aligned with the brand’s identity.

Challenges

  1. Users often feel frustrated when food delivery apps are slow or confusing during checkout.

  2. Lack of visual feedback in many apps makes users unsure whether actions (e.g., “Add to Cart”) were completed.

  3. Need for a prototype that demonstrates realistic app behavior for stakeholders and developers.

Solutions

  • Designed micro-interactions for core flows (add to cart, order tracking, confirmation states) to provide instant and clear feedback.

  • Used ProtoPie to create interactive scenarios, allowing stakeholders to experience the flow as if using the real app.

  • Applied UI refinements for visual hierarchy, ensuring easy navigation across categories, restaurants, and cart.

Key Micro-Interactions

  • Add to Cart Animation: smooth motion pulling the item into the cart to reassure the user.

  • Order Tracking: playful yet informative delivery progress bar with animated states.

  • Button Feedback: subtle hover/click transitions to improve touch feedback and accessibility.

Impact:

  • Reduced usability friction by adding meaningful feedback at each step.

  • Prototypes allowed stakeholders to test and approve flows quickly, cutting down back-and-forth revisions.

  • Improved user satisfaction by making the app feel faster and more engaging.

Tools Used:

  • Sketch App

  • ProtoPie (Interactive Prototyping)

  • After Effects + Lottie (Micro-interactions)
